I was about a week late paying my credit card bill this month (because it got buried on my desk and I forgot about it.) Will this do bad things to my credit rating? It's always been really good. I've had it since 1995 and never been late and never carry any balance on it. Anybody know?

No. Pretty sure CC companies only report a serious delinquency to your credit report. Even then, a week isn't going to ping for them, maybe like a month.

However, you do have to deal with the late charges, which sucks. And depending on which company you have your credit card with and if they're total assholes or not, they may raise your interest rate.

I'd just had it in the back of my mind that it was just one of those Thou Shalt Not big deals. Yeah, I'm prepared for late charges. A potential raised interest rate isn't worrying me at the moment, as I always pay the whole balance every month. I don't so much need a credit card as a debit card, eh?
